In the Weppes region, six kilometers of cycle path between Herlies and Wavrin have been repainted with photoluminescent paint. The aim of the experiment is to improve user safety at night.
The new marking absorbs and stores sunlight during the day, releasing it at night.
"You can follow the white dotted lines, and it's very reassuring for cyclists to know where they're going," comments Pascal Leclerq, a regular user of the track and local correspondent for the Droit au vélo (ADAV) association, on BFM Grand Lille.
The section concerned runs along the RN 41 from Wavrin to Herlies, southwest of Lille.
