In the Chablais region of the Canton of Valais, a 1km stretch of a cycle path was marked with our luminescent road paint.

This is a Swiss first in terms of road safety, initiated by the Mobility Service in collaboration with the Federal Roads Office. The aim is to guarantee greater safety for cyclists, who are constantly on the increase, as well as good cohabitation between the various road users, the canton stresses. This paintwork makes the route more legible, while avoiding the implementation of a traditional lighting system that is costly and energy-consuming, it adds.

Testimonies from the first users confirm the interest of the paint: "Between two places where there is no public lighting, it changes everything! I am really impressed by the quality of the paint. Or: "It stands out clearly on the ground and allows you to be guided. It's more reassuring, especially when you come home quite late."

In order to match the colour of Switzerland's cycle markings, the LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint has been registered in a yellow version, in contrast to its usual almond green colour.

This device is currently in the test phase and will last for one year. If the test proves to be successful, an approval procedure will be launched with the competent authorities. The aim is to use this method in areas outside the locality where there is no street lighting. This test should also make it possible to observe the preservation of biodiversity, as opposed to public lighting which is a source of light pollution.
