[Ouest France] An “eco-friendly” pedestrian and bicycle path links the historic communes of Laize-Clinchamps
The new soft path linking Laize-la-Ville to Clinchamps-sur-Orne, near Caen (Calvados), was inaugurated on Wednesday April 27, 2022. The asphalt for this path, open to pedestrians and cyclists, was made from recycled asphalt and waste from the paper industry. Lighting is provided by daylight.
This is the first time we've used this type of asphalt mix in Lower Normandy. Few local authorities choose it because public procurement contracts don't include environmental criteria and don't favor this type of solution," adds Grégoire Henry, the company's sales manager. The soft lane also incorporates a photoluminescent marking (Luminokrom) that restores the light accumulated during the day at night, avoiding the costly installation of lighting equipment by the local authority.
