LuminoKrom photoluminescent paint seduces the metropolis of Brest to secure cycle paths
Several measures in favor of bicycle travel will be implemented in 2021. Among these, the experimentation with luminescent marking, currently unique in the region, at certain points of the cycle path linking Castel-Nevez to Bourg, in link with the services of the Metropolis of Brest.
The objective of this action is to warn of danger zones, to guide cyclists on unlit paths and to strengthen the coexistence between cyclists and pedestrians.
This LuminoKrom® photoluminescent road paint is produced by the company OliKrom located in Pessac (33), France. This technology harnesses renewable energy from solar radiation. It captures light during the day and lights up at night without any consumption of electricity or CO2 emissions.
LuminoKrom paint was applied upstream and downstream of several intersections of the greenway / axial strip and / or animation markings: crossing with rue Auriol; crossing with rue Kerarmerrien; crossing with avenue Jacques-Prévert; alley of the Town Hall; intersection of Louise-Michel avenue with Malmanche street and intersection with Prévert avenue.
Florian Prével, Deputy for Sustainable Development, specifies: “This innovative paint will thus store sunlight during the day and restore it throughout the night. Without energy expenditure, several dangerous zones will therefore be signaled to secure gentle nocturnal journeys."
The use of LuminoKrom® has been tested and validated by numerous applicators, for example the teams of the Eiffage Group, AER, Proximark, Hélios Atlantique, Moliner Sud Signalisation, La Signalisation Routière, Alinea Signalisation, Aximum, etc. This photoluminescent marking can be easily removed identically to road paint with an airless machine. The service life is estimated at more than 3 years. We already have projects carried out for more than 2 years. technical checks are carried out every month on a control track, laid 30 months ago. All of these analyzes validate the robustness of LuminoKrom® with excellent aging and maintenance of properties over time (adhesion, colorimetry, luminescence, etc.).
