LuminoKrom® tested in Weppes for cyclists' safety

LuminoKrom® photoluminescent technology is currently being tested in the Weppes region of northern France. This new marking for cycle paths, capable of restoring the light captured during the day once night has fallen, offers an ecological and safe solution for cyclists. By reducing dependence on street lighting, LuminoKrom® is part of a sustainable approach that also enhances visibility and safety for users of soft mobility infrastructures. This trial confirms the potential of LuminoKrom® to meet the needs of local authorities wishing to combine innovation and respect for the environment.

Between Herlies and Wavrin in the Weppes region, six kilometers of cycle path have been repainted with photoluminescent paint, to improve safety for users at night. Six kilometers of the Weppes cycle path between Herlies and Wavrin have been repainted with photoluminescent paint. The aim of the experiment is to improve safety at night. The new marking absorbs and stores sunlight during the day, releasing it again at night. The section concerned runs along the RN 41 from Wavrin to Herlies, southwest of Lille.

"You can follow the white dotted lines, and it's very reassuring for cyclists to know where they're going," comments Pascal Leclerq, a regular user of the track and local correspondent for the Droit au vélo (ADAV) association, on BFM Grand Lille.

LuminoKrom® highlighted in a BFM TV article

In an article published by BFMTV Grand Lille, LuminoKrom® is honored for its experimentation on the Weppes cycle paths. The article describes how our photoluminescent paint, applied to improve night-time visibility, enhances cyclists' safety, particularly in areas where lighting is limited. This innovative technology stands out for its ability to reduce energy costs and limit environmental impact, while ensuring visible, long-lasting markings.

BFMTV also points out that this pilot project could inspire wider deployment in other regions of France, highlighting the concrete benefits of LuminoKrom® for communities committed to an ecological transition and improved soft mobility. This test in Les Weppes is a further step towards the adoption of this innovative solution for safety and sustainability.
