Colmar tests LuminoKrom® to make cycling safer at night

The town of Colmar is experimenting with an application of our photoluminescent paint to make cycling safer at night. Installed near the Mittelharth bridge, our innovative marking glows in the dark, improving visibility and safety for cyclists on cycle paths. This initiative aims to reduce accidents in poorly lit areas and offer an environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional street lighting. LuminoKrom® technology is being used for this project, which could be extended to other areas if the local population takes to it.

In an article, France Bleu highlights the experimentation of LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint in Colmar. The town recently applied this innovative paint to some of its cycle paths to test its effectiveness in improving night-time visibility for cyclists. LuminoKrom®, which stores daylight and releases it in the dark, offers an ecological and autonomous solution, ideal for making cycle lanes safer without the need for electric lighting.

This initiative is part of a broader ecological transition, aimed at reducing the environmental impact of infrastructures while meeting road safety challenges. If the tests are conclusive, Colmar could consider extending the use of LuminoKrom® to other areas of the city, thus encouraging safe mobility, even at night. This project, supported by a French technology, illustrates the willingness of local authorities to develop innovative and sustainable solutions.
