Now there's a brilliant idea. At a time when energy saving is on the menu for all local authorities, the Nord Bassin intercommunal authority is currently experimenting with a process that will make it possible to do without street lighting. It involves luminescent road markings to make night-time movement safer, without any electricity consumption.

LuminoKrom® tested by COBAN to make roads in the Nord-Bassin safer

The Communauté d'Agglomération du Bassin d'Arcachon Nord (COBAN) has chosen to test our LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint on several of its infrastructures. The aim of the trial is to improve the safety of users, particularly cyclists and pedestrians, on roads and cycle paths by restoring the light stored during the day once night has fallen. Our ecological and sustainable innovation is part of an approach to reducing energy costs while guaranteeing effective illuminated signage, without recourse to artificial lighting.

This pilot project reflects the commitment of local authorities to modern, sustainable infrastructure that meets environmental challenges. If the results prove conclusive, LuminoKrom® could be deployed in other areas of the Bay of Arcachon.

In an article in La Dépêche du Bassin, COBAN bets on our illuminated paintwork

In an article in La Dépêche du Bassin, our LuminoKrom® paint is highlighted for its trial by COBAN in the Nord-Bassin area. The article explains how this innovative solution, applied to cycle lanes and roads, improves user safety thanks to its ability to restore light in poorly lit areas.

The article also highlights the environmental and economic benefits of our innovation, which reduces the costs associated with the installation and maintenance of conventional street lighting. With this project, COBAN is positioning itself as a committed player in the ecological transition and in the improvement of soft mobility infrastructures. Our LuminoKrom® paint continues to demonstrate its effectiveness and its key role in the development of environmentally-friendly areas.
