The RAVel at Lives-sur-Meuse has just benefited from this innovative technique: luminescent markings on both sides of the cycle lane. The primary objective is to improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians on unlit roads. This is only the second time this technique has been used in Wallonia, but it could well become more widespread over the next few years, with the expected increase in cycle lanes and cycle highways.

LuminoKrom®: our innovation for tomorrow's road safety

Our LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint is highlighted as a promising solution for making roads and cycle paths safer. By absorbing daylight and releasing it at night, our innovation provides enhanced visibility for road users, without the need for electric lighting. Used to enhance safety in poorly lit areas, it is part of a sustainable and ecological approach that meets the current challenges of energy transition and soft mobility.

As soon as it gets dark, the paint lines become phosphorescent. But how is this innovative?

"It's a marking that itself emits light, explains Gauthier Michaux, engineer at SPW's Road Engineering Department. It contains pigments that absorb light from the sun's energy during the day and re-emit it continuously, day and night. And at night, this marking is visible because there are no other external sources of light."

With its potential to transform road infrastructures, our paint represents an essential tool for improving night-time safety while limiting the environmental impact of traditional installations. LuminoKrom® continues to demonstrate its effectiveness in numerous applications, both in France and abroad.

Our luminous painting in an RTBF article

In an article published by RTBF, our LuminoKrom® paint is highlighted for its role in securing infrastructures. The article explores the benefits of our innovation, which offers illuminated signage capable of reducing night-time accidents and promoting safer mobility, even in remote or poorly lit areas.

The article also highlights the growing interest in our paint from local authorities and decision-makers, attracted by its ecological and economic benefits. The report shows LuminoKrom® to be a concrete and effective response to the challenges of safety and sustainability in the field of road infrastructure. Our paint could thus become a standard for tomorrow's roads, reconciling innovation and environmental responsibility.
