[Swissinfo] Cycle path: Valais tests photoluminescent paint
A first in Switzerland, it aims to improve cyclists' comfort and safety at lower cost.
The Valais region is currently testing photoluminescent paint on an unlit section of cycle path between Vouvry and Vionnaz. A first in Switzerland, the aim is to improve cyclists' comfort and safety at lower cost.
The paint, which catches the light during the day and restores it in the dark, was applied over a kilometer along the cantonal road linking the two towns in the Valais Chablais region. "We chose this stretch in particular because it is representative of those places where cyclists find it hard to feel the route at night", explains Sébastien Terrettaz, engineer with the Mobility Department.
