TIPS FOR EFFECTIVE PAINTWORK
The successful laying of a cold impregnation coatings generally involves several key stages, requiring meticulous surface preparation and precise laying to ensure the best results in terms of luminescence and waterproofing.
The use of LuminoKrom® technology in outdoor areas requires particular attention to detail (see advices on the technical data sheet and SDS specific to each product) to ensure effective adhesion and a long service life for the treated pavement.

Surfacings must be flat and at least one month old before any project is launched. They must be dry, clean, free of all traces of pollution, not subject to rising damp through capillary action and sufficiently rough for the two-component paint to bond.
Our LuminoKrom® product is simple to apply and easy to implement. In comparison to traditional paint, which is applied with a roller or spray cold impregnation coatings are applied with special tools to maximise waterproofing performance and slow wear: the coat knife, which may or may not be serrated, depending on the desired effect.

Steps for applying our urban two components product
- Cleaning the surface to be fitted: The exterior surfaces where the product will be applied must be flat, clean and dry. It is important to sweep the floors, clear away any debris and remove any traces of oil or grease.
- Repairing the project area: Repair any potholes or large cracks in the external surfacing using suitable tool. For small cracks, the asphalt pavement itself may be sufficient to seal and repair.
- Setting up safety and choosing protective equipment: It's important to equip yourself and choose protective accessories before you start. Despite applications on outdoor floors, make sure you choose adequate protection (gloves, shoes and safety goggles).
- Marking out the area to be painted: Mark out the areas to be marked on the ground using the appropriate marking-out tool and the protection required for the job to run smoothly.
- Incorporating the hardener: LuminoKrom® luminescent bituminous coat is a two-component product. Add the recommended hardener just before laying the material. Be sure to follow the advice given in the packaging and the technical sheet dedicated to each catalogue reference.
- Applying the white-color plaster : The use of a coating knife is strongly recommended. The tools and accessories used will depend on the surface to be covered. Apply two-component paint evenly over the prepared surface, immediately after adding the hardener.
- Drying time: Allow the two-component paint to dry for 30 to 45 minutes, depending on weather conditions and substrate temperature. Avoid traffic on the treated surface during the drying duration to avoid disturbing the adhesion and formation of the protective film. This could affect the waterproofing of the markings.
- Post-installation check: Check that the surface is evenly covered and that there are no missed or under-applied areas. Floors should be smooth, with no unevenness or excess material.

FEEDBACK AND CUSTOMER TESTIMONIALS
Find out all the opinions and feedback on our range of phosphorescent paints, particularly our urban two-component luminescent product.
« The initial results have been very positive, insofar as we can see that it is effective at night. It gives cyclists the reassurance they need in a poorly lit area, because we can't put a vertical lighting column on the Pâquier. »
Gilles Bernard, Deputy Mayor for Mobility, Annecy
« It's more reassuring, especially when you get home quite late. It stands out clearly against the ground, giving good guidance on the cycle path. The quality of the paintwork is really impressive. »
Sinah and Frédéric, residents of Vionnaz
