Description

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION – Glow in the dark water-based paint

The yellow glow in the dark paint offers many benefits in industrial and private environments, thanks to its unique, autonomous ability to glow in the dark after exposure to a light source. It is essential for safety and mobility signage, marking emergency exits, evacuation routes and danger zones, and improving visibility in the event of lighting failure.

In industrial applications, LuminoKrom® glow in the dark product marks equipment, machines and traffic paths, improving safety and organization in low-light conditions. In warehouses, it facilitates navigation and obstacle detection thanks to its yellow color adapted to the industry codes.

On roads, cycle paths and parking lots, our glowing technology guides users in the dark as soon as night falls, further reducing the risk of accidents. In public spaces such as parks and gardens, LuminoKrom® paint provides autonomous lighting without electricity consumption, ideal for remote areas. It is also used on street furniture for enhanced night-time visibility.

Our LuminoKrom® glow in the dark markings are available in a range of colors and on a variety of substrates to make night-time mobility safer in all circumstances. Our yellow-color phosphorescent paint is ideal for both indoor and outdoor use.

APPLICATION

TIPS FOR EFFECTIVE WATER-BASED PAINT APPLICATION

The road surface must be at least one month old before any material is used. It must be dry, clean and free from all traces of pollution, oil or grease, often caused by the ambient air or repeated vehicle traffic. In addition, the surface must not be subject to rising damp through capillary action, and must have sufficient roughness to ensure good adhesion of the coating. If necessary, the application area can be washed and dried before use.

It's essential to apply one of our gllow in the dark markings to a white undercoat of paint. This white neutral undercoat amplifies the luminous effect of our glowing technology and optimizes light radiation.

Our acrylic road marking products can be applied in a number of ways: either with a roller or a brush. If you apply the marking with a brush, use equipment specially designed for water-based paints. To paint with a roller, use a tool with short 6-8 mm bristles. Our water-based sign marking is not suitable for use under pressure.

LuminoKrom® phosphorescent products are ready-to-use and require no dilution before application. No other professional substances, such as primer, oil or rust protection, are required for optimum use of our luminescent technology.

Steps for applying yellow water-based paint

  1. Clean the area to be painted with water or a suitable cleaner.
  2. Mark the lines or symbols to be painted with tape or stencils, to ensure clean, precise lines. This also delimits the areas to be painted and protects surrounding areas.
  3. Apply the first white neutral undercoat at a dosage of 400 g/m².
  4. Allow the first white coat to dry for the time specified by the undercoat supplier. Generally speaking, we recommend a drying time of 2 hours between the white undercoat and the first coat of Luminokrom paint in the color of your choice (yellow, white or green options).
  5. Prepare your equipment and clean the necessary tools.
  6. Prepare the glow in the dark product by homogenizing the chosen LuminoKrom® paint. It must be thoroughly mixed before use to ensure a homogeneous consistency.
  7. Apply the yellow LuminoKrom® layer, targeting a dosage of 900g/m². Be sure to follow the weight and speed recommendations given on the technical data sheet for each of our solvent-based or water-based glowing products.
  8. If you are applying the coating by brush, proceed with a second coat. If you have chosen brush application, 2 additional coats will be required.
  9. Allow to dry for 24 hours. This time may vary slightly depending on the environment and ambient temperature at the time of application. During this period, it is important to protect the painted area from traffic and bad weather.
  10. After application, clean your material with water to remove all substances.

«  It's a heavily wooded section, with one or two road crossings, which can be dangerous points. Even during the day, it's quite dark, as the trees are quite leafy. The more we do this kind of development, the safer people will feel, and footfall will increase. »

José, about the safe cycle path in Namur, Belgium

«  Thanks to the presence of pigments that absorb daylight and restore it at night, it is possible to see the signs on the ground in total darkness. »

What is water-based paint?

Acrylic paint is a marking whose main solvent is water, making it more environmentally-friendly and easier to use compare to a solvent-based option. It is distinguished by its low volatile organic compound (VOC) content, reducing toxic emissions and unpleasant odors.

This marking uses water as its main diluent, unlike solvent-based paints which use solvents. This characteristic gives water-based paints a number of ecological and practical advantages.

These acrylic markings are an eco-responsible alternative, respectful of the environment and health. Thanks to their solvent-free nature, they represent a significant advance towards more sustainable and ecological practices in the coatings field.

What surfaces can water-based paint be used on?

Aqua-based paints are renowned for their versatility and suitability for use on a variety of surfaces and materials such as wood, plaster, metal...

They are ideal for applications on plaster partitions, offering a smooth, durable finish. They are also suitable for brick and concrete walls, both indoors and out, thanks to their excellent adhesion and weather protection.

Acrylic paints can also be applied directly to floors, as can their solvent-based versions. So you can paint on bitumen, asphalt, concrete or asphalt mix.

This product category offers many variations and options. In fact, numerous products are available to meet your needs in terms of appearance and finish.

When is LuminoKrom® luminescent paint used?

Our yellow glow in the dark technology is particularly useful in a variety of industrial contexts, where yellow is a color commonly used for signage and safety. Our glowing solution is ideal for improving visibility and safety in working environments, thanks to its ability to glow in the dark after being exposed to a light source.

In industrial environments, our technology can be used for floor markings to demarcate safety zones, traffic lanes and crosswalks in warehouses and factories. These markings help prevent accidents by remaining visible even in poor lighting conditions. It is also applied to stairs, handrails and safety equipment to ensure that these crucial elements remain visible in the dark, facilitating emergency evacuations.

Equipment and machines can also benefit from our phosphorescent marking to indicate hazardous areas or access points, increasing operator safety. In maintenance, our luminous solution helps to quickly locate necessary tools and components, reducing intervention time and improving operational efficiency.

For outdoor storage areas, the yellow LuminoKrom® reference marks aisles and loading zones, increasing safety and organization even after sunset or any power failure. In outdoor industrial areas, it guides workers in the event of a night evacuation, thanks to its extended visibility.

How long does LuminoKrom® luminescence last?

Each reference in our products range has its own luminescence time and characteristics. In the case of yellow aqua-based road marking, its luminescent properties will last for over 6 hours, in complete autonomy.

This luminous guide provides support and safety for night-time mobility, particularly for cyclists and pedestrians. Our glow in the dark technology works without the need for a power supply or any special maintenance. As soon as the area is plunged into natural darkness, or the temporary darkness of a power cut, the marking becomes luminous, thanks to the special pigments present in the material. These pigments have stored light energy during the day, and release it in the dark.
