For the Metropolis of Amiens, the objective is twofold, Securing an unlit cycling area while respecting biodiversity. LuminoKrom photoluminescent paint harnesses renewable energy from the sun. It captures light during the day and lights up at night without any consumption of electricity or CO2 emissions. Its installation on infrastructure is quick and easy.
An innovative project for cyclists' safety
In September 2020, the Metropole of Amiens undertook an innovative project to improve safety for cyclists on the RD8 greenway at Avenue de la Croix-Jourdain in Salouël. This wooded section, devoid of street lighting, presented challenges for night-time users. To remedy this, a 600-meter stretch of LuminoKrom® photoluminescent striping was applied, with two continuous 10 cm-wide edge strips. This marking acts as a light guide, providing enhanced visibility for cyclists and pedestrians at night. The work was carried out by Eiffage/AER teams.
The benefits of LuminoKrom®: an eco-responsible and efficient solution
LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint charges with natural or artificial light during the day and restores it at night, offering visibility for up to 10 hours in the dark without electricity consumption or CO₂ emissions. This innovative technology improves user safety by providing luminous guidance in unlit areas, while preserving the environment by reducing light pollution. What's more, LuminoKrom® is quick and easy to apply, comparable to conventional road paint, making it a practical and cost-effective solution for local authorities wishing to secure their infrastructures in a sustainable way.
