An innovative project: photoluminescent markings at Bombannes
In September 2020, the commune of Carcans, in partnership with the Office National des Forêts (ONF), initiated a bold project aimed at improving night-time safety while respecting the local ecosystem. The project, carried out with Eiffage Route Sud-Ouest and Alinéa Signalisation, saw the installation of LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint on a cycle path running alongside the Bombannes beach, near the UCPA Beach Club. A 10 cm continuous central strip, accompanied by bicycle logos, was applied, as well as a photoluminescent crosswalk in white cold coating. LuminoKrom® technology uses pigments that capture daylight and release it at night, providing visible lighting without the need for street lighting.
The benefits and contribution of LuminoKrom®
Integrating LuminoKrom® paint into this project offers major advantages. It significantly improves the safety of cyclists and pedestrians by increasing their night-time visibility, while reducing the risk of accidents. What's more, this eco-responsible solution operates without energy consumption or CO₂ emissions, preserving the natural environment of Bombannes beach. User testimonials underline the positive impact of this innovation: "Thanks to this paint that lights up in the night, we come home with the children in complete safety. It allows us to enjoy the beach to the full at the end of the evening!" This project is a perfect illustration of LuminoKrom®'s contribution to safe, sustainable mobility.
