LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint deposited in the Chartrons district of Bordeaux.
Safe pedestrian crossings on tramway tracks
In May 2021, in the Chartrons district of Bordeaux, a project was carried out to improve the safety of pedestrians crossing the tracks of tramway B, particularly at Hangar 16 on the Quai des Chartrons. Under the supervision of Keolis, LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint was applied by Signalax to crosswalks on the tracks.
The purpose of these markings is to enhance night-time visibility of crossing areas, thus improving safety for users, particularly in poor lighting conditions.
Improving pedestrian safety with LuminoKrom®.
LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint absorbs ambient light during the day and releases it at night, emitting a visible glow for several hours without the need for a power supply. This property is particularly beneficial for crosswalks on tramways, where lighting may be insufficient.
By illuminating crossing areas, LuminoKrom® makes it easier for pedestrians to spot safe crossings and draws the attention of tramway drivers to the potential presence of pedestrians, thus reducing the risk of accidents. What's more, this environmentally-friendly solution helps reduce urban light pollution while ensuring greater safety for vulnerable road users.
