Esvres-sur-Indre, a luminous marking to secure cyclists
An innovative light marking on the ground to secure cyclists mobility by night.
For the first time in the Center-Val de Loire region, the town has set up a luminescent marking system on the ground, in order to secure the cycle path on rue de la Percaline, in non-urban areas. The aim of this device is to reassure users and facilitate gentle mobility for cyclists and pedestrians at night or in winter when the day falls very quickly.
This new project also illustrates the municipality’s eco-responsible approaches. Indeed, this innovation does not involve any additional electricity consumption, no CO2 emissions, because it captures light during the day to restore it at night. This system is forty times more economical than installing public lighting. The technology is patented and winner of the Ademe “road to the future” award. This system is part of the policy of securing municipal roads, under the leadership of Patrick Garnier, adviser responsible for soft roads, in partnership with the company Eiffage Route.
