Ferrières-en-Brie (77) creates a photoluminescent pedestrian crossing

LuminoKrom photoluminescent paint was selected by the Municipality of Ferrières-en-Brie to secure a checkered pedestrian crossing in an area devoid of public lighting. LuminoKrom® luminescent marking acts at night as a light guide for pedestrians.

At night, many pedestrians have to move: late exits from sports centers or municipal halls, journeys between an urban center and a student housing district, returns from nightlife centers (cinemas, restaurants), workers working shifted schedules …. LuminoKrom® luminescent marking makes it possible to secure these nocturnal journeys, in particular in municipalities which turn off public lighting for part of the night or in insufficiently lit areas.

An innovative project to make night-time pedestrian crossings safer

In May 2019, the commune of Ferrières-en-Brie, Seine-et-Marne, undertook an innovative project to improve pedestrian safety in an area devoid of street lighting. A checkerboard crosswalk was fitted with LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint, providing light guidance for users at night. This initiative meets the needs of residents traveling after dark, such as late-night exits from sports centers, journeys between the city center and residential neighborhoods, or workers with staggered working hours. The work was carried out by the Eiffage - AER Group.
