LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint registered in Jolimetz
Securing a crossroads without street lighting
In October 2021, the Conseil Départemental du Nord undertook work to improve safety at the traffic circle at the intersection of the D932 and D33 roads, at the entrance to Jolimetz. As part of an initiative to reduce light pollution, the street lighting at this intersection has been removed.
To compensate for this lack of artificial light and ensure user safety, LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint was applied to the traffic circle's curbs. The work was carried out by Aximum, to provide effective light guidance for motorists driving at night.
An ecological solution for improved night-time visibility
LuminoKrom® paint absorbs natural light during the day and releases it at night, emitting a visible glow without the need for a power supply. This innovative technology improves the perception of road infrastructure in the dark, helping drivers to clearly identify traffic circle contours and navigate safely.
By replacing street lighting with this luminescent marking, the municipality is reducing its energy consumption and limiting light pollution, while maintaining a high level of safety for road users. This ecological and economical approach demonstrates Jolimetz's commitment to sustainable solutions for its infrastructure.
