Luminescent painting on the Greenway of the Seine À l’Eure & Rue du Canal
Increased visibility at night with LuminoKrom photoluminescent paint
LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint is deployed on the Voie Verte cycle path from Seine to Eure. The use of lighting is intended to enhance the safety of night travel for cyclists and pedestrians night visibility around the bridge, Rue du Canal, which spans the Eure. LuminoKrom® luminous paint captures light during the day and lights up for 10 hours to enhance the visibility of this particularly delicate area at night.
LuminoKrom® photoluminescent road paint is produced by OliKrom, a company based in Pessac, France. It captures light during the day and illuminates at night, with no electricity consumption or CO2 emissions. This patented innovation required four years of research to produce a paint suitable for professional use, with optimum luminous performance of +10 hours, ensuring visibility throughout the night.
For cycle paths and greenways, photoluminescent markings act as a luminous guide that marks out the path at night. LuminoKrom® is also a warning marker, to indicate chicanes and dangerous banks (ditches, canals, etc.) in the dark on the Voie Verte de la Seine à l'Eure, enabling users to anticipate.
A project to make night-time travel safer
In November 2020, the Communauté d'Agglomération Seine-Eure undertook a project to enhance user safety on the Voie Verte de la Seine à l'Eure, particularly in the vicinity of the Rue du Canal bridge over the Eure. To achieve this, LuminoKrom® photoluminescent markings were applied to 900 meters of continuous 10 cm-wide roadside striping, complemented by markings on the chicanes along the route. The aim of this initiative was to improve night-time visibility for cyclists and pedestrians, by providing effective light guidance in an area devoid of street lighting.
The advantages of LuminoKrom®: an innovative, environmentally-friendly solution
LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint captures light during the day and restores it at night, offering visibility for over 10 hours in the dark without electricity consumption or CO₂ emissions. This innovative technology improves user safety by providing luminous guidance in unlit areas, while preserving the environment by reducing light pollution. What's more, its application is quick and easy, comparable to that of conventional road paint, making it an economical and sustainable solution for local authorities wishing to secure their infrastructures responsibly.
