LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint has been applied for the first time on a European cycle path, the Eurovelo 1 path crossing the Bay of Arcachon.

In June 2024, our LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint was applied for the first time on a European cycle path, the Eurovelo 1 path crossing the Bay of Arcachon. This project, supervised by the Communauté de Communes du Bassin d’Arcachon Nord (COBAN), was implemented on the Vélodyssée path along the D3, between Andernos and Lanton, over a distance of 10 km.

The project involves the construction of Europe’s first night-luminous cycle path to make night-time mobility safer for local residents and tourists. LuminoKrom®, our innovative road paint, absorbs light during the day and releases it again at night, guaranteeing greater visibility of the markings without the need for additional public lighting. Our luminescent markings aim to improve safety for cyclists by providing optimum visibility for night-time journeys.

The Eurovelo 1 trail, also known as the Vélodyssée, is an emblematic cycle route that attracts many local and international cyclists. By making this route safer, COBAN is demonstrating its commitment to promoting sustainable and innovative solutions for soft mobility. The application of LuminoKrom® on the Eurovelo 1 cycle path could serve as a model for other similar projects in Europe, demonstrating the effectiveness of this technology in various urban and rural mobility contexts. By providing better night-time visibility, LuminoKrom® makes a significant contribution to the safety and sustainability of cycling infrastructure, while making night-time journeys safer and more enjoyable for all users.
