Improving safety and visibility on the cycle paths of the Île de Ré with LuminoKrom®.

The Ile de Ré, renowned for its innovative approach to sustainable development, has taken another step forward by using LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint for the second time on its cycle paths. This major project, led by the Communauté de Commune de l’Île de Ré, was designed and built by SIGNALISATION 17, specialists in road markings.

The works, to be carried out in May 2024, will cover a strategic stretch of road between the towns of La Flotte and Saint-Martin-de-Ré. It includes the application of LuminoKrom® in T3 axial markings, on the riverbanks, as well as for intersections and yield signs. Our road technology, which captures light during the day and gives it back at night, is designed to significantly improve the visibility of cycle paths, thereby contributing to the safety of cyclists and pedestrians travelling at night.

The adoption of this innovative paintwork by the Île de Ré illustrates its commitment to user safety and respect for the environment on its territory. The project not only enhances the practical and aesthetic appeal of the roads, but also encourages cycling at all times, consolidating the island’s reputation as an environmentally-friendly and accessible tourist destination.
