Illuminated markings to enhance safety for cyclists and other road users

Modern facilities for traffic calming

In May 2024, the town of Surgères (Charente Maritime, 17) chose LuminoKrom® to make rue de Verdun, a busy thoroughfare for cyclists and road users, safer.

Carried out by Marquausol Services 17, the project includes T3 axial markings, cyclist pictograms on the ground, roadside markings and a stop strip. Thanks to photoluminescent technology, these markings guarantee optimum night-time visibility, reinforcing the safety of soft mobility.

A sustainable and innovative solution for urban infrastructures

The application of this technology in Surgères, which follows on from many other similar projects in the department, shows how Charente-Maritime is leading the way in the adoption of innovative and sustainable solutions. LuminoKrom® paint, which captures light during the day and releases it again at night, makes road markings more visible and reduces the risk of accidents after dusk.

These improvements contribute not only to user safety, but also to the enhancement of urban and peri-urban space, encouraging the use of soft mobility and supporting a policy of sustainable development. The implementation of photoluminescence by Charente-Maritime demonstrates its commitment to ecological initiatives that benefit the whole community.
