LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint on the roads near downtown Bujumbura

Burundi has just taken a major step forward in road safety with the first application of our LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint. This technological breakthrough was installed on a central median strip strategically located between Bujumbura-Melchior Ndadaye International Airport and downtown Bujumbura.

The application of LuminoKrom® in Burundi aims to solve a crucial problem: night-time travel safety. Motorists and pedestrians are often confronted with reduced visibility conditions at night, increasing the risk of accidents. The central median strip near the international airport and the city center was a particularly sensitive location, given the high volume of traffic in this area.

Now, thanks to LuminoKrom® , drivers can find their way more easily and avoid potential obstacles on the road. This innovation offers enhanced visibility, improving safety for motorists and pedestrians, while reducing the risk of accidents linked to limited visibility at night.

This first application of LuminoKrom® in Burundi marks the beginning of a significant transformation in road safety in the country. It demonstrates Burundi’s commitment to adopting innovative technologies to protect the lives of its citizens and travellers. It is to be hoped that other similar projects will see the light of day in the country, creating safer, more visible roads for all.
