The impressive doubling of a 4 km portion of the RCEA in Haut-Clunisois has been completed with the removal of the LuminoKrom photoluminescent paint. The purpose of marking this structure with luminescent markings is to increase visibility at night for motorists traveling on this busy road. For this achievement, the Eiffage / AER teams have placed the luminescent marking on the entire concrete border of the roundabout.
Thanks to its photoluminescent properties, this paint captures light during the day and lights up at night without the need for electricity. LuminoKrom® luminous paint harnesses the renewable energy of solar radiation. An inexhaustible, clean energy source with no impact on greenhouse gases. So, without any electricity consumption or CO2 emissions, dangerous areas such as chicanes, traffic circles, etc. can be marked by photoluminescent beacons.
It's easy to install, and quickly enhances visibility at night. The deployment of LuminoKrom® has been tested and validated by numerous applicators, including teams from Groupe Eiffage, AER, Proximark, Hélios Atlantique, Moliner Sud Signalisation, La Signalisation Routière, Alinea Signalisation, Aximum, etc. LuminoKrom photoluminescent marking is applied in the same way as road paint, using an airless machine. LuminoKrom® paint dosage is 1.2 kg/m2 on a white undercoat. Life expectancy is estimated at over 3 years.
The aim is to help motorists find their way beyond headlights and better anticipate hazards in dark areas. For a vehicle, photoluminescent marking improves visibility at night by around 50 to 100 meters beyond the 30 meters of low-beam headlights (measurements carried out by Gustave Eiffel University as part of the ADEME "I-Street" program).
