Aix-en-Provence, a LuminoKrom® photoluminescent cycle path

The Bouches-du-Rhône Departmental Council is building a LuminoKrom® photoluminescent cycle path on the RD65

LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint was selected by the Eiffage / AER teams to secure the RD65 cycle path in Aix-en-Provence, France. The use of this light is intended to enhance the safety of night travel for cyclists and pedestrians.

LuminoKrom® luminescent paint contributes to the quality of the facilities by improving the practicability of cycle routes all year round at any time, even in difficult weather conditions. This luminous markup reassures cyclists. They visualize the course of the track, allowing them to anticipate the presence of a bend or an obstacle ... Photoluminescent paint charges during the day and lights up in the dark without electricity, without expensive installation and without damaging impact for the environment.

An innovative project for cyclists' safety

In June 2020, the Conseil Départemental des Bouches-du-Rhône undertook a project to improve safety for cyclists on the RD65d (formerly RD9) in Aix-en-Provence. To achieve this, a 6cm-wide continuous central strip was marked with LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint. The aim of this initiative was to enhance the night-time visibility of the cycle path, particularly in areas without street lighting, thus providing users with luminous guidance. The work was carried out by Eiffage/AER teams.
