LuminoKrom® paint at the SANEF “Les Bonettes” rest area
SANEF deploys LuminoKrom photoluminescent paint to secure a roundabout on the "Les Bonettes" Rest Area
LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint is deployed on the Aire de Repos les Bonettes to enhance the visibility of a roundabout in an area without public lighting. The luminescent marking of the roundabout was carried out by the Eiffage / AER teams by depositing the LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint on the concrete. This luminous paint has the ability to capture light during the day and return it for 10 hours at night.
In the field of road marking, in non-traffic areas, LuminoKrom® road paint is now deployed to enhance the visibility of singular points, such as roundabouts, baffles, separators, locks, etc. The objective is to help motorists find their way beyond the light of the headlights and better anticipate dangers in dark areas. For a vehicle, photoluminescent marking improves visibility at night by approximately 50 to 100 meters beyond 30 meters from the low beam.
A project to improve night-time visibility
In June 2019, Société des Autoroutes du Nord et de l'Est de la France (SANEF) undertook a project to improve safety at the "Les Bonettes" rest area on the A26 freeway at Hamblain-les-Prés. The aim was to improve night-time visibility at a traffic circle located in an area with no public lighting. To achieve this, Eiffage/AER teams applied LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint to the concrete of the traffic circle. This paint captures light during the day and releases it for 10 hours at night, providing effective lighting.
The benefits of LuminoKrom®: an innovative solution for road safety
The use of LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint on non-trafficked areas, such as traffic circles, chicanes or locks, improves the visibility of singular points. This technology helps motorists find their way beyond the range of headlights, enabling them to anticipate hazards in dark areas. In concrete terms, photoluminescent marking improves night-time visibility by around 50 to 100 meters beyond the 30 meters covered by low-beam headlights, thus contributing to improved road safety
