Illuminated markings to make cycling safer at night

Between April and May 2021, Rouen Métropole is undertaking a project to improve safety for cyclists on the rue du Madrillet track in Petit-Couronne. The route crosses a number of different areas, alternating between forest, roadside and tunnel, requiring visible signage at all times.

Applied by Eiffage, LuminoKrom® photoluminescent markings give users a better understanding of their route at night, providing effective guidance and reducing the risk of accidents.

A sustainable and effective solution for cycling infrastructure

By capturing daylight and releasing it for up to 10 hours in the dark, LuminoKrom® ensures night-time visibility without consuming energy. This project illustrates Rouen Métropole's commitment to soft mobility and innovation to make public infrastructure safer.

Thanks to this technology, the Madrillet cycle path benefits from durable and environmentally-friendly markings, improving the comfort and safety of cyclists.
